7th grade Life Science learned more about the structure of DNA by making edible models. Twizzlers were the “backbone” and 4 different colored marshmallows represented the 4 nitrogen bases(adenine, cytosine, guanine, and thymine.) After correctly following a sequence and pairing bases, the students could twist their models to see the “double helix” shape of DNA.
